Google prepares own social network, which will compete with Facebook.

The revelation comes from the founder of DiggKevin Rose, who spoke about the project in its Google Me mikroblog on Twitter.

Rose claims that he learned that "a huge rumor" from a very reliable source. Google Me now carries the nickname "killer Facebook", reported sfweekly.com.

Hardly a surprise to Google’s ambition to expand its influence in social networks. The leader in constant demand placed on various social services, relying that some of them will become popular.

In February the company launched the service Google Buzz, which is a competitor of Twitter. It allows users to communicate on the Internet without leaving your mailbox to Gmail.

Google still has a social network Orkut. The project was not necessary in the English-speaking countries, but is extremely popular in Brazil and India. There are over 100 Orkut million registered users.

According to unconfirmed information officially, Google Me service can be a renovation of the existing function of Google Profiles.
